Service with a Smile

Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

Howdy everyone! This week has been pretty fun but chill. We were able to put one of our friends on date for baptism so that was awesome. We also went to the stake presidents house, and they had a little party for some family members who were traveling to the states so that was fun.
On Saturday we helped do service for the bishop. We helped cut some weeds and rake near his house.

We also helped sorta cut down his tree. I say sorta because we first tried to cut it down but only me, my comp, and bishop were the ones trying to pull the tree so it could fall but it ended up slowly falling the opposite way. So we had to get a few more people in the neighborhood to help us lift it and pull it the other way. In the end we got it and no one was hurt so I'm grateful God was watching over us.

Overall, this week was pretty chill and not a whole ton happened. This next week is the last week of the transfer so that'll be exciting. I love y'all and hope y'all have a safe week!

Drunks and Devotionals

 Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

This week's email will be a bit shorter, so I apologize in advance for that. However, we still had some crazy things happen as well as spiritual things also. The major highlights for me this week was that Elder Rasband (not 12 apostle) and Sister Yee (2nd counselor in the General Relief Society Presidency) came to Pohnpei and gave a few devotionals to the members, youth, and lastly us missionaries! It was an awesome experience and they both have very strong faith and testimonies of this gospel.

Now for some of the crazy things. I'm not sure why but we had encounters with like 3 drunk dudes this week all in like the span of 2 days. The first interaction was this guy named Eddie who was not fully sauced but he was still a little buzzed. He was super nice but the whole time tried to argue with us about the "3 heavens". The next guy was the day after that and it ended up being one of Eddie's friends and he was very against the idea of the spirit world.

The last guy was actually the funniest but maybe also the most dangerous interaction. We were driving to a lesson and this guy was yelling at us to stop and my comp and I had the prompting to keep driving but we decided to stop anyway just in case. Well turns out that maybe wasn't the best decision because this dude was wayy drunk. He wanted us to give him a ride down to the store, but he couldn't tell us what he needed from said store. Not to mention we aren't allowed to give people rides as missionaries. So, we had to apologize and said we needed to go and as we drove away, we heard him start swearing at us and even threatened to kill us if we came back. So that was fun but we also both realized that we definitely should've followed the prompting to keep driving.

Overall, this week has been super crazy while also being super spiritual. As always, I poakpoake kumwail! (I love you all!)

Cleanin' & Clownin' Around

 Kaselehlie Friends!

I apologize if this email will probably be a little shorter than normal. So, this week has definitely had its ups and downs for sure. Elder Sewell and I have been super tired throughout the week. We have taught seminary and had lots of contacts and lessons. All while this was happening the zone leader's car broke down so between both companionships, we were carpooling this week and walking.

Even though this week has been stressful we had a great highlight from this week. We were going to contact a family, but they weren't home and as my companion turned to walk away, I saw an older guy sitting down a few feet away. So, I suggested we talk to him, and we did. Eventually we found that he is more than willing to join in on lessons and he was very eager to read the Book of Mormon so that was an awesome and very cool miracle that happened.

I also went on an exchange this week and I was able to lead the area so that was cool, and it allowed me to practice my Pohnpeian more. We also did service at the church on Saturday. My comp and I and the members cleaned the church. It was super fun and we got to bond with all the members so that was great.

Overall, this week has been tiring and a lot of circumstances have not been so great, but my comp and I have tried our best to stay optimistic and continue to press forward with the Lord's work. I know that when life beats us down and we have hard days we can turn to our Savior, and he will lift us up!

I poakpoake emenemen kitail oh I ese me Koht udahn poakpoake emenemen kitail ansou koaros! I nda mepwukat ni mwaren Sises Krais, Amen.

God is Good, All the Time

Kaselehlie aramas koaros!

This week has been full of events. My comp and I have been having fun and seeing lots of success in our area this week so that's been really great. We taught seminary again this week (I guess we're the designated seminary teachers now haha) and we were able to meet some new people there so that was awesome.

We had the mission president and his wife come to do mini exchanges and interviews with all of us in place of a normal zone conference so that was interesting but really cool. Elder Sewell and I were also able to get our Pohnpei driver licenses so now we are legal on the streets of Pohnpei.

This Sunday we had the opportunity to help with a baby blessing at church and it was very tender and sweet to be a part of. I also helped them create the new member record for the baby since I am the membership clerk now in the Sekere ward. I know and am grateful that our Heavenly Father loves all of us. I know he is aware of all the details in our lives, big or small.

Try your best to be the best you can be! With Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, you can press forward with faith. I love you all and I hope everyone has an amazing week!

*Fun Stories*
1. On P-day we explored an old, abandoned hotel and we found a cow there and one of the Elders almost lost his hand trying to feed it.
2. We were driving back to our apartment, and we saw to little boys on the sidewalk, and I waved to them and the younger one full on flipped me off so that was very unexpected, but we had a good laugh.
