New Comp, New Crazyness

 Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

Hello again peeps! This week has been super fun but crazy. I have a new companion now named Elder Sewell, from Mesa, Arizona. He's super awesome! My previous comp Elder Durrant is now one of the Zone Leaders. I am still in the same area however so that's nice. We have had a ton of stuff happen these past few days.

First my comp got sick, so we went to the hospital, and they gave him some medicine but that seemed to make it worse. He's doing better now but he was a lot worse a few days ago. There was a funeral in Sekere this week and that caused a lot of canceled or rescheduled lessons. We taught seminary again this week and we made cupcakes. Afterwards we came home, and Elder Sewell was trying to lock the car and the dogs that hang out at the church started fighting and they knocked one of our plates over and it broke so that sucks but it's all good.

On Saturday we went to this activity the stake was doing for the youth and we got some really pretty pictures of the sunset. We also got 2 new sister missionaries on Pohnpei this transfer so that's cool. They are both Tongan. At sacrament meeting I helped "play" the piano/organ thingy. It's one of those autoplaying pianos so all I really had to do was press the same key to match the tempo of the hymns.

Overall, this week has had its ups and downs, but my comp and I have tried our best to stay optimistic through it all. I'm grateful for the people here on Pohnpei and I'm grateful for the friends and family back home. Love y'all and I hope y'all have an awesome week!

Transfer and Tons of Baptisms !

 Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

This week has been very...all over the place. This week was the last week of the transfer and so we had a ton of last-minute exchanges. I got to go to one different area on Pohnpei so that was sick. I went on exchanges with 2 elders in my district throughout the week.

We were also able to teach seminary this week because the sister that usually teaches it was sick so that was really fun that we got to do that. We also attended 2 baptisms this week. At one baptism 6 kids got baptized. Both baptisms were for people the sisters were teaching but since my comp is the district leader, he did all their baptism interviews.

We also had transfer calls on Sunday. Pohnpei is gonna have 3 districts now. My companion is also zone leader now and he is gonna be in a different area so I will have a new companion this transfer. I'm a bit bummed that my companion will be in a different area but I'm super excited for him to be zone leader and I'm excited for my new comp this transfer!

Zone Conference Week

 Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

This week was super busy! We had zone conference and the elders from Kosrae and the AP's came to Pohnpei. There were a lot of missionaries on Pohnpei. It was also really rainy this week so that was cool.

My comp and I went on an exchange with one of the AP's so that was cool. When we were on the exchange we went to this hotel to eat dinner and we met a member there who is from Utah and works for the FBI on Pohnpei temporarily.  He ended up paying for our meals so that was really kind of him and I appreciate that a lot.

My comp and I attended a baptism of some friends of the Sister Missionaries this week and he helped baptize them so that was really fun. Both my comp and I were asked to give talks in church. I ended up speaking mostly in English because my Pohnpeian is still really bad. I said a few things in Pohnpeian and I was able to give a simple testimony that I was able to write down beforehand with the help from my companion so that was cool.

This week has been busy but loads of fun, so I have really enjoyed the week.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

*Funny Story*
So, there are 2 dogs that usually hang around our house, and one morning we heard them barking and when we looked, they were chasing a chicken. Eventually a little while later they caught it because we heard barking again and we saw that one of the caretakers had confiscated their chicken. They were not happy to say the least!

Fishin' and Flat Tires

 Kaselehlie Maing Ko!

It's me again! Your favorite island boy! This week has been very eventful. We had a ton of service with a lot of different people, and we had all sorts of food. We helped one of our friends husk coconuts and cook bananas in the coconut oil. Later we tried a pig that he put in an uhm (which is basically an underground oven covered by banana leaves) so that was really cool. We also went spear fishing with some other friends of ours and we caught and cooked freshwater shrimp. They were the best shrimp I have ever had!

We also saw some dude climbing a coconut tree and he chopped the leaves off with a machete so that's fun. We were also able to help remove old tiles in the seminary room at the high school. I went on an exchange this week and some BYU-Hawaii administrators came and gave a youth fireside and talked about the school a little so that was an awesome experience.

We blew a Tire on the way to one of our lessons so now we are borrowing an older car and it has no A/C so that's epic. We are really living that island life now haha! We went on a hike with the mission president today because they are here for zone conference this week, and it was really fun. Overall, this week has been a roller-coaster, but it has had its little moments that have made it worth it.

I love y'all and I hope y'all have an amazing week. Kalangahn en kumwail!
